Knowledge of His Love Brings True Repentance

There are still people who insist that we have to preach on repentance. Well, I disagree! I think we should do it God’s way – preach the goodness of God and allow the goodness of God to lead people to repentance. Such repentance will be true repentance. It will not be motivated by the fear of judgment and indignation. It will be a genuine repentance that is motivated by His grace, unconditional love and compassion. After all, our ability to love God stems from our first tasting His love for us.

Joseph Prince

See Luke 15 for the parable Jesus gives [1 parable; 3 parts] demonstrating true repentance:

1. The lost sheep

2. The lost coin

3. The lost sons

Repentance is not a work that you do in order to earn forgiveness from God; repentance is your response to the God who was crucified on the cross even before you knew you needed forgiveness; who sought you out, who finds you, who offers it to you as a gift; and when you encounter that,… and you receive it as the gift that it was intended to be. This is what genuine repentance is.  Michael Ramsden

    1. Thank you very much.

Scripture itself tells us – it’s the goodness of God that leads people to repentance. (As one of my mentors would say: telling people they’re going to hell is NOT good news)… but seriously if people really knew how good God is, there’s not much else to do.

      Stay Blessed.

  1. HA! Never thought of it that way, but that’s so true!!! Satan strives for none of us to realize God’s awesomeness by making us think we need to scare ourselves into salvation. Great point! 🙂 ♥ ❤
