For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. 2Cor 4:6
There is nothing new under the sun, and the apostle Paul shows us that everything the world craves and is diligently seeking after from other sources, are to be found in Christ Jesus alone. Then as now, people search after three things:
1. Light (new-age, mystics) – Jews
2. Knowledge (education) – Greeks
3. Glory (fame) – Romans
but the apostle Paul assures us believers, that all of these 3 things are to be found ONLY IN the person of Jesus Christ.
“Paul uses Moses as a model of one who has been transformed by God’s glory, but in a limited way. Moses encountered God (the Lord) through the Spirit on that mountain, but the Spirit now—as a fulfillment of the new covenant—dwells in the hearts of believers and continually transforms them. This transformation is based on a new way of understanding God’s revelation: Jesus Himself, the One who reveals God’s glory, is the very image of God. Through this Spirit-enabled encounter, believers experience a new way of living and therefore come to resemble the Anointed One as they reflect His glory.”
