Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. [Psalm 1:1 KJV]
Friends, do you see that? You are counted as BLESSED when you shun the advice of wicked people, people who are will-full sinners and worse yet, those who are scoffers. It doesn’t take much logic to see why this is great and sound advice – a good man out of the good treasures of his heart will bring forth good things. However, an evil or wicked man, out of the evil treasures of his heart brings forth evil things. What could one possibly hope to obtain thru the guidance of the wicked? So, I ask whose advice are you listening to?
From this same verse one can see the progression into ungodliness by those who take no delight in the Word of God, those who fail to meditate on His precepts day and night. They walk, then they stand, and eventually they take a seat in ways of unrighteousness.
Know that the secret counsels of God are hidden from the ungodly, but the study of the Word of God is foundational to a life of good success, purpose and prosperity. Jesus, when speaking with His disciples imparted this great advice to them: “Be careful what you are hearing. The measure [of thought and study] you give [to the truth you hear] will be the measure [of virtue and knowledge] that comes back to you…”
So, I leave you with this: Do not be so deceived and misled! Evil companionships (communion, associations) corrupt and deprave good manners and morals and character. 1 Cor 15:33.
Take heed what you hear and to whom you’re listening.
