As Christians, we believe and confess:
1. Jesus Christ is Lord
2. Jesus died on the cross for our sins
3. Jesus rose from the dead on the third day.
Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
Jesus is Savior of all. His death and resurrection was for all mankind, we had no choice in the matter. He did it out of obedience and love. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. 1Cor 15:22
He saved us without us even asking to be saved. But God commendeth [showed & proved] his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8
However, making Him the Lord of your life is a decision you will have to make. By making Him Lord, you are declaring to Him and the world that He has shown His love toward you by saving you and now you are making the deliberate choice to honor what He has done by following and obeying Him. That is what it means to make Jesus the Lord of your life – A Lord, you must obey.
And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say Luke 6:46
