Proverbs 23: 7 [ For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.]
Neuroscientist Dr. Caroline Leaf puts it this way: “What we choose to think about and how we choose to think can switch our genes on and off and changes the structure and function of the brain.”
This powerful truth is also demonstrated daily by the things we do. There is nothing we do, that we have not first given thought to! The things you think of falls into your heart before coming forth as words through your mouth/lips.
No wonder we are exhorted in Proverbs and other places in Scripture to guard our hearts. [Keep and guard your heart with all vigilance and above all that you guard, for out of it flow the springs of life.] –Prov 4:23
Our thoughts can only lead to one of two things: Life or Death. In Deuteronomy, we’re even told the correct choice- Choose life, so you and your generation may live. Death is a product of toxic thoughts.
How then do we choose life? We’re given the answer in 2 Corinthians 10
For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,…
