God is Love!

fall1Most of us would define love as a feeling – something that comes and goes; and in turn we treat others depending on the ‘feelings’ we’re having towards them at that particular moment. Our Heavenly Father is not like that. He loves us equally, totally and unconditionally. His love for us is greater than any sin/wrong we could ever do. He is selfless. He is Love.

The Bible defines God, who is love in the following passage:

1 Corinthians  13:4-8  Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails…And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is LOVE.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

What this means is no one perishes for Sin, they perish for Unbelief.

It truly takes a renewed mind to understand and appreciate just how much God loves us, and even then I don’t believe we have a full appreciation for just how good and loving God is. All our sins (past, present and future sins) God has already judged in the body of His Son, Christ Jesus.  Jesus became sin for us, so that we can be the righteousness of God. So the believer is righteous right NOW, in this very moment (not in the distant future). Salvation is a gift from God, it is not obtained by our good works. We become righteous by believing that Christ Jesus is the Son of God, that he was born into the earth via the virgin Mary through the overshadowing of the Holy Spirit; that he was crucified on a cross and defeated death to rise again on the 3rd day. Jesus delivered us from sin so that we can be delivered from this present evil world (and not only in the one to come).

Since sin is already judged in the body of Christ does this mean we are free to sin or shouldn’t care if we sin? Absolutely NOT! When you yield to sin you’re committing a transgression against God; and secondly by yielding to sin you give satan an inroad into your life. You’re walking out from under the umbrella of protection of Christ Jesus. No need to be unwise in your daily walk with Christ.

This is the Good News of the Gospel – the good news of salvation is that Christ has already accepted you, totally and unconditionally. You belong to Him. He loves you unconditionally. His love for you will never change. He laid down His life for you, to make you righteous, free and holy because of his great LOVE for you which is far greater than your sin.

This is real love:   John 15:13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

Will you believe you are already totally and unconditionally accepted and loved by Christ Jesus?

Have you accepted His free gift of Salvation?  (It’s free for you but make no mistake, it cost the giver (Christ Jesus) greatly.

Father, I thank you for your Word. It is life, it is love, it is truth. I thank you for those who hear your Word and remove all the cares of the world from their hearts so the seed which is your Word can take root in their hearts, grow into strong trees and produce fruits. Because it is by these fruits that the world will know that we belong to you, that we are your disciples, because we have love for each other. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
